Stroke Rehabilitation
A stroke occurs when the blood supply to part of your brain is interrupted or reduced leading to a reduction in blood supply to a specific area. Without a fresh supply of blood, the tissue becomes damaged or dies. The physiological and cognitive effects of a stroke vary depending on the location within the brain. For some patient’s the impact will be minor and a recovery almost complete, whereas for others the effects can be life-changing and mean that they are likely to always require the assistance of others.
Common difficulties following stroke includes reduced mobility and balance, fatigue, difficulties with memory and weakness on one side of the body.
UK Home Therapy Occupational Therapist’s understand these issues, hence they provide tailored rehabilitation for both physical and cognitive needs. Our Occupational therapists work with clients and their families following a stroke to help them recover to near normal or to adjust to a new version of normal
