Amputation Rehabilitation
An amputation is the surgical removal of part of the body, such as an arm or leg. There are many reasons an amputation may be necessary which can include poor circulation, severe injury, cancerous tumour, thickening of nervous tissue, infection etc. They can be described as full or partial depending on the amount of limb or extremity that is removed.
Following surgery, the difficulties associated can depend on the location and type of amputation, home environment, medical history and current health. Due to this patient will experience difficulties which can include managing activities such dressing and undressing, washing, moving around the home, sports and hobbies and meal/drink preparation
